There have been some instances of high profile crowdfunded projects that didn't shipdespite making their financial targets, so you should think carefully before putting your money into any project.
That being said, this week we really liked the Omnipack 2 on Kickstarter, and think it's worth at least checking out.
The Omnipack 2 is a water resistant backpack that includes a solar panel to charge a battery, and comes with lights. You can also add-on a AA battery powered power-bank, and the more expensive version of the bag also comes with speakers. In short, if you're going for a hike then this bag sounds perfect as you'll be able to power up your gadgets from the sunlight, turn on the lights when you're out at night, and share your tunes with all your friends.
The Omnipack 2 has crossed $2,000 (approximately Rs. 1.3 lakhs) against a target of $65,000 (approximately Rs. 41.5 lakhs), and it will continue to accept funds until September 3. You can get the basic Omnipack, which is IPX-1 water resistant, and comes with a 2,200 mAh battery, front and rear lights, and a 2 watt solar panel, for $69 (approximately Rs. 4,400). You can get the Extent special edition, which is IPX-2 water resistant, made with ballistic nylon for increased toughness, has dual speakers, a 4000mAh battery, front and rear lights, and a 4 watt solar panel, for $169 (approximately Rs. 11,000).
That's a little expensive, but still pretty cool, and if you're an outdoorsman, then it sounds like a pretty appealing option.
